Welcome to Vocal Sciences! With 7 years of classical and operatic training under the tutelage of the late Maestro David Kyle and over 20 years of live performance experience, Chad brings a unique teaching style to the table. This method combines the theory and techniques of Kyle, who was a student of Enrico Rosati (teacher of the great Benimino Gigli and Mario Lanza), the Italian Bel Canto technique and teachings of Mario Marafioti (medical advisor and laryngologist) of the great Enrico Caruso. Though the basis of the technique is classical, it's that foundation that we apply to the modern vocalist.
In this method we will approach the study of the voice as both an "art" and a "science". Meaning great care will be given to study of "Voice Culture". The correct training and developing of the physiological functions of the vocal organs during the process of the voice production constitutes voice culture. It comprises a knowledge of the normal functions of the lungs, as moving power; of the larynx with the vocal cords, as producing power; and of the mouth, which includes the tongue, palate, lips and the resonance chambers, as resonation power of the voice.
Three branches of science govern the human voice. Physiology, Psychology and Acoustics. The following 7 principals are the basis of our studies;
1) Voice is speech
2) Maximum tone, minimum effort
3) Breath control
4) Resonance
5) Speaking and singing are similar functions.
6) The pitch and dimensions of the singing voice are determined by the speaking voice
7) There are no registers in the singing voice when correctly produced
